Chloe's Altered Frame

Well I couldn't make one of Aimee and not Chloe! Again Tracey kindly gave me this frame too! I have used most of the same techniques as I did on Aimee's (which can be seen here). Chloe didn't want pink but more of a vintage type frame!

Sorry about the reflection on the photo, didn't realise until I uploaded the photos a little while ago.

The distress ink that I used was Walnut Stain, for some reason I was hoping for a much deeper wood type colour, but this mishap works great with all the elements that I chose, I think!

On Chloe's I have used a Bazzill flower, instead of the handmade cabbage rose that is on Aimee's. The flower was too red so I toned it down with some distress inks, layered a Prima flower, then layered a copper flower charm (I snipped off the ring), a beautiful pearlised button, some beading and a self adhesive pearl in the middle!

Again I have made my own bling swirl and I have also used a doily, which I very lightly inked with distress ink (in places, lol).

I used a Prima Cherry Blossom Vine on Aimee's but I couldn't find another type to fit in with the idea that I had for Chloe's frame, so I made my own, still used prima flowers though!! Again I used lots of charms!

Look at divine gold brocade trim, mmmmh fell in love with it when I saw it! It is much deeper gold IRL.
The butterfly is K and Co

This pic shows the cracking in more detail!

And isn't this the most divine trimming .... I have actually picked this trim up at the shop about 10 times as it is a little pricey, but I gave way to temptation in the end! lol

Altered Frame!

Tracey very kindly gave me this frame to play with! So I changed it from this to .............

this .......

There was a little mirror in the middle, I was going to re-size the photo to fit in there, but looking at it I thought there would be way too much space to fill, so I printed my photo 6 x 4 and backed on to some card (I used the back of those little 6 x 6 paper packs which gave it a nice strong backing), distressed the edges and inked.

I gessoed (is that a word?) the frame and then added some crackle paint, I wanted a soft feel to the frame, so I only put a lot of paint onto some parts. (You can see some of the crackle in the photos below).

The rest of the frame, is completed the same as a layout, rolled edges, torn edges, inked edges, etc. All stuck down with double sided tape.

I have used the cabbage rose technique that Tracey so kindly did a tutorial on, which can be found here.
I used some of the beading, a button, crystal, chain and charm to finish it off.

I have made this swirl corner myself. I found a pic of Prima's corners, got out my crystals and stuck them down on acetate. Not bad, huh?

I so love Prima's flowers. The minute I saw this one, I knew exactly which photo I was going to use. I have dotted a lot of charms around the vine and threaded some bead string.

Lots and Lots of photos .....

Following on from the last post .... this is how I altered the lantern.

Below are photos of the lantern that Debbie from the library, she runs an after school craft club. I went a few times with the girls last year, and I even directed a class. She gave me the lantern at Christmas as a thank you, I was so very touched at her thoughtfulness. Unfortunately with Aimee going to another school, we can't make the afternoon club anymore!

When I saw the lantern I knew straight away wanted I wanted to do with it, turn it into Tinkerbell's house! I knew it was going to take a long time to do, so I waited until this half term get started on it. It took me days, I only finished it tonight and some of the stickles was still wet while taking the photos, there was a lot of drying time in this project, which I sooo hate!

I took the lantern apart and nearly ended up in hospital when the knife slipped a few times!!! I discarded the candle holder as the mushroom would be too big in the house.

I painted the house with a green acyclic paint, before painting I mixed in glitter with the paint, even though you can't really see it, it does "bling".

I did the same with the roof, you can see it better in the photo below. I was going to decorate the roof too, but decided not too.

While waiting for the paint to dry, I re-visited my childhood and played with paper mache. I made these strange things below, which I painted green and glued to the side corners of the house. (See second photo below, I have it arrowed) I wanted to put a lot of flowers on the house, but had no way of attaching them. You can hardly see them now!

Now to the egg!

This is how the mushroom first started out, a polystyrene egg shape. I chopped it in half to make the mushroom.

A close up of the "mushroom" that Tink is sitting on, (see below) as I mentioned in the last post I forgot to take a photo before I added the flowers. I painted the ""egg" with red acyclic paint and then added cream paint as dots, I then stuck a whole load of flowers and leaves of all different sorts around the mushroom! I also glued a rose bud to Tink's hand!

Nearly there, at last!

In the photo below you can kind of see the Daisies that I stuck on the back panel sides of the house. Also the photo shows in more detail the flowers, butterflies, dragonflies that I stuck onto the house.

Now all I had to do was glue the top part to the bottom part, without knocking everything off, lol!! Manged it, phew, then I stuck a whole load of flowers and leaves around the base of the house, and stickled them!!!!!!

I used silicone glue for everything on the house, if you would like more details or the product names (if I have them) on any materials that I used please contact me, as I am not going to bother to put a product list as it would take me forever to do so!

I am still not finished with it yet, I want to add more butterflies, dragonflies and ladybirds to it, I could get them online but I want to see them IRL before I buy. The black and red butterflies were in a pack that I got ages ago, it did have white ones but I used all them on other projects! The dragonflies I have had for ages and you can often see them popping up on my cards or layouts, all I done was twist the pins off the back of the brad and glue them down with silicone glue. Ladybirds I had none :( thought I had. I will take photos of the house when I add more to it, this could be a long process. lol.

If you have read all of this thank you so much!

My Project!!!!!!!

FROM THIS .......

TO THIS .....

AND A PIC OF MY HALF POLYSTYRENE EGG

D'oh to me I forgot to take a pic of the mushroom before I covered the bottom half in flowers!!!

I don't like the Tinkerbell that is sat on top, I searched the E-bay for one and could only find ones that I didn't like, so when I find one I will replace this one and maybe make the mushroom smaller!

These are the only photos in this post, in my next post I will have all the photos of it been made, as there are a lot of photos, I didn't want to bore anyone who just wanted to have a look at the house!

Oh BTW DH won't let me keep it in the lounge, I think he thinks it's to girly, anyways I was making it for Aimee's room so yeah I have overdone the flowers and the colours, I think if I was making it for the lounge it would be more subtle!!! And yeah I went mad with the stickles Well Tinkerbell is a blinging girl, lol!!!!!

My latest project ....

this has been something that I have wanted to get started since December. I have taken this week "off" from the more serious housework and college work to get it done. So all the spring cleaning can wait till next week!!!!

I am only going to show sneak peaks and see if anyone can guess what I am making. This project has a lot of drying time in it, so I make/alter whatever during the day and leave it to dry overnight! So hopefully by the end of the week it should be finished!!!

First sneak peek ....

I got the inspiration for altering this polystyrene egg from Ruth (check out her Gorgeous Easter Eggs here!), I wanted to include a certain something in my project but couldn't think how to do it, and then I saw Ruth's Easter Eggs and the polystyrene egg shapes she got from Boyes, so I have cut the egg shape in half and prettied (is that a word?) it up a touch.

Remember when you were little and made paper mache models the old balloon thing???? I certainly do and I loved it because I got messy, lol and I still love it. These strange looking things will hopefully become clear, when they are painted up and on the final photos.

So that's about it for me for awhile, have to make a Thinking of you card, 2 wedding cards and 2 birthday cards, nothing else to do while my projects things are drying, BORIIIIIIIIIIIING, I so hate having to wait ........

Altered Box

As I said in my last post, I altered a load of cds to make a book for my Aunt, I then altered a laundry tablet box to put the book into, as it would of been to award to wrap the way it was, so my Aunt can use this box for what ever she wishes and the cd book for a Christmas decoration!

TFLxxx

Altered CD's

Some of you may recognise this from one of the entries to Paper Paradise's Crafty Individuals competition!! When I started this book, it was just for the competition, but as I was completing it I thought my Aunt would like it, as she likes traditional!

So when the competition was over I personalised it a little by adding Christmas feeling photos of the girls!

The way I made the book was got a load of old cds/dvds that don't work anymore! To get the straight edge I measured about 1 inch form the edge and drew a pencil line down! The scored it with my craft knife, heated it with my heat gun, removed the heat, and cut with a scissors, they don't crack! Then I covered them with papers! DH bought a normal paper binder in Lidl ages ago for under £20, so while he was at work I tried the cds in it to see if it would punch holes, it did!!! So I don't have to get the new bind it all machine, Hehehe!!! Then I have just inked and embellished!

Georgia's Frame

I made this frame as part of Georgia's birthday present! All going to plan Georgia will be moving to New Zealand next October!!! So I thought this frame and photo would be a nice reminder of her cousins!

I used Sandylion Disney Paper, a plain brown frame, some ribbon, Jo Sonja's Background paint, glitter, flowers, brads and spray mount!
As you can see from the picture I didn't use everything that I originally planned to use!! You know the creative streak just go with it!!! LOL

First of all I took the frame apart. I used Jo Sonja's Paint, to paint over the brown, I painted 3 times, to make sure that the brown wouldn't show!
Next I used a cream acrylic paint, (part of a set I got ages ago, don't know the name) to paint over the top. As I was painting I daubed some glitter (pink, green, blue, purple) into the paint so it would stick as the paint was drying.

I then painted a light layer of Jo Sonja's paint over the whole lot! When the paint got tacky, I used a baby wipe to wipe it off again, which gave it a kinda of faded look! I left all that to settle overnight!

I used some spray mount to attach the paper to the insert, then cut out the middle for the photo!

For the embellishments I used Woodware flower chipboard die cut, which I traced around onto the back of a cereal box and then used the paper that I cut from the middle of the insert to cover it! I also used Papermania Silk Flowers and a Papermaina glitter brad!

For the tag again I used Woodware tag chipboard die cut, and copied what I done on the flower! I inked around the edges of the flower and tag, used a glitter glue on the edges of both!

When the glue had dried I layer the flower up and threaded some ribbon through the tag!
All that was left to do was assemble it all together!!!

Oopises!!!

When I first tried to glue the paper to the insert, it went on crooked, and when I tried to fix it I tore the paper! Luckily I thought before hand and bought 3 pages!!!! I searched in my stash and found the spray mount, gave that a go and it worked!!!!

When I assembled the frame first I cracked the glass, so I had to go out and buy another frame!!! There was too much paint on the tabs that you fold down at the back, and I put a little too much pressure on the glass!

Again the frame looks a lot nicer IRL!!! The colour of the frame is more of a faded cream then the yellow that it shows here!

Thanks for looking and reading!
