Far Ings

We went on another Extended schools trip today to Far Ings which is a nature reserve!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. We got to go pond dipping!!! First of all the family groups had to pick a name for ourselves, me been useless at stuff like that came up with the name The Skimming Philips!!!! Then we were given a point sheet, you get points for each type of thing that you caught!!! We came third!!!!!!! We were also given a fact sheet with pictures of all the different creatures, so we were to identify them! Helen our guide had to see all the creatures before we were awarded the points to ensure fair play, to be honest we needed her help to identify them anyways!!!

Once we had that activity done it was back into the "classroom" where Helen put some of the creatures under a microscope so we could see them up close!!!!! Aimee is looking at a pregnant leech, charming and Chloe is looking at a water louse, yuck!!!

Once everyone had finished in the classroom it was time to eat!!!!

It was then time for a nature walk through the woods!! The first thing I spotted was a dragonfly (Southern Hawker Dragonfly)!!! The next a butterfly (Small Heath Butterfly).

Chloe found a toad and Aimee is looking for Mini beasts!

As it was very hands on, I wasn't able to take as many photos as I usually do, but at least I got some.

See ya all later!

What a fun trip ! you got some great shots there Helena, not much of a 'bug' person myself so I would need loads of help with the identification lol XXX

Looks like a great day - I'm pleased to see that you weren't eating any of your 'finds'!

Wonderful pictures - you're making good use of your new camera.
