Majestic

On the PageMaps Blog, Becky Fleck set a Vacation Challenge.
You need to follow the below sketch and use your vacation photos!

As I have scrapped no photos of when we went to America to visit DH's mum in 2006, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to start!

We were lucky enough to go to Memphis (and yes we did go to Gracelands, fantastic experience), when I saw the sketch the photos of the Tigers we took in Memphis Zoo popped into my head straight away!

The page is actually an 8x8 as I figure if I do the holiday pages in 12x12 I will never get around to finishing them, as where this page took me roughly 3hours from start to finish, not bad huh??

I have tried to get the papers to represent the colours of the stone and the tiger colours. The notepaper and title have been swiped with orange and black ink pads, in that order, if I used the black ink first I wouldn't of been able to get the orange to show as much! I have inked the edges of the papers with black and the photos with orange!

The swirls up the side of the photo are done with a stamp, I didn't put the swirl next to the title as I thought it wouldn't look right been so close to the line of swirls.

The faux stitching is done with a black pen and ruler as are the dots around the edge.

That's it!!!!

Stash I used

  • Old worlde - DCWV cardstock
  • Papermania - other cardstock
  • A4 notepad
  • Title letters - Heidi Swapp - Lemonade Stand - Ledger (Thanks Kels)
  • Inks - Tim Holtz - Distress Inks - Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot
  • Ink on the swirls - Ranger - Archival Ink - Jet Black
  • Swirl Stamp - Kelly Panacci - Journaling stamps
  • Black Pen and a ruler

What a great LO!! This sketch is very similar to this months PP challenge as it's designed by Becky Fleck as well. Maybe 2 birds with one stone here? Or another page for the America Album with the other sketch?
Fab idea to do them in 8x8 as you're right "It'd never get finished"!!

I LOVE this page and that orange/black inking combo was inspired.

Good luck!
