another one of the snow photos that I took on the 1st Dec. It was a toss up between this one and a snow scene!

Not a lot too it, some white background cardstock, white glitter card ran through the cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, some white flowers and white pearl sprays, white lace and the lettering was ran through the cuttlebug on white glitter card, then all matted and layer! That's it!

Sketchy Colours Challenge ....

In this challenge you can choose do a card, scrapbook page, etc. During the snow, schools closed so we all had a few days off. Steve, myself, Aimee and our niece Georgia went for a walk and a play in the snow. And of course we took lots of photos. When I saw the challenge on Sketchy Colours blog, I knew exactly which photo I wanted to scrap. I haven't scrapped in ages. It was so good to be scrapping again, and hopefully I can find the time to do more! Anyways onto the challenge ....

Since we're having a break during the Christmas Holiday, we're having - as we already mentioned,
a special challenge for you this time:
You MUST choose ONE of these two color combo's:
RED, WHITE & GOLD OR BLUE, WHITE & SILVER

Detail shot of the flowers and charms. I used blue and white flowers with silver charms.

I got a craft voucher from my SIL (Altered Geisha) for Christmas and I bought this delish Tim Holtz die. I have used stickles on the die and I have also stickled the edge of the page, the leaves and around the photo matt, and I then put the bottle of stickles far away from me as I kept eyeing up other embellishments that I could put stickles on, lol!

This week, for our last challenge of 2010 we’re going with nice and easy – Anything Goes.

I used one of the pirate stamps

Now for the challenge....in celebration of the New Year and today being New Year's Eve, we would like to see you bling up your creations with lots of glitter! So let's see something glittery!

The sword, the buttons, the buckle, the cross and bones and I glittered the hearts in the background paper with stickles. I also used 3 crystals on the sentiment.

Now how about this week's fabulous sketch.....

And here is what I came up with

I also made a Christmas Card with the same criteria!

Glittery - Edwins wings, "frost" on the window sill and along the bottom of the window and on the present all have Stickles added to them. The dotty background paper is glittery and I used crystals on the sentiment.

Edwin is actually supposed to be holding an egg, but I cut out the egg and replaced it with a present!

Here it is ....

on a roll at the moment, my pre-made Christmas cards are growing, yippee!!! I just hope that I can continue ...

Kim is going out in style though as she has designed this amazing sketch for this challenge!!! Isn't it a beauty??

And here is what I came up with!

My little sentiment was copied from a Christmas Card my SIL (Altered Geisha) gave us a couple of years ago.

I didn't have any blue flowers so I painted some white ones blue!

I am going to be very good this year, every card that I make through out the year, I am going to make a Christmas card exactly the same (except for colours, papers, images, etc of course)

So here is my second take on the sketch!

The above sentiment is exactly like the one my SIL made on her card to us!

Simon Says Challenge

This week, our challenge is TIME TO PARTY/CELEBRATE !

Our amazing DT member Domi, gave us this fabulous bottle card template for us to play with and here it is if you fancy having a go!

The DT this week have used glimmer mist and plenty of glitter. These are optional extras but we would love to see them if you have them !

Here is what I came up with ....

I have used lots of BLING in this. On the green of the bottle I have used Old lace glimmer mist, on the circle the image is on I have painted opal dust, on her ribbon, necklace, bracelet and hair clip I have used stickles. I sprayed glimmer mist onto the flowers and leaves too! I have also added crystals on the red ribbon.

I had no red flowers so I painted some white ones with red. I also had no gold embellishments so I put some gold stickles on a gold brad.

Inks - Tim Holtz - Barn door, Tattered rose, Spiced Marmalade and Walnut Stain.

Just Magnolia Challenge
We have a sketch by Mina for this week’s challenge. Please note that this challenge will run for 2 weeks, so our next challenge will be on 31st December so will be our Special Monthly Challenge – Anything Goes.

I decided to go all rosemantic with this card! Fantastic wedding couple from Magnolia. I used the masked technique with their brick window, to make it look like they were standing in front of Church wall.

Reindeer food

I decided to make some Reindeer food again this year, it was an idea that I "borrowed" from Aimee's nursery school, I thought it was such a fantastic idea, of course now she is a big girl of 7 she doesn't get it anymore! I also made 4 more for her cousins who are in and around the same age!

I used one of the beautiful Belles 'n Whistles stamps designed by THE Elisabeth Bell I used Tim Holtz reinkers to colour in the images!

This is the wonderful poem that I included with the Reindeer food, probably got from Aimee's nursery!

First Wedding shoot!

We did our first wedding shoot, (well a blessing really, as they got married last year, in a very quite ceremony, they wanted a blessing so their extended family and friends could share), a couple of weeks ago! Steve took mostly took photos of the bride and groom while I concentrated on candid shots! Here are some of the photos that I took! I was so nervous, it's amazing I was able to hold the camera straight, must say it was a fantastic day and I so loved doing the photography!

ATC Swap - May 2010

Here is the ATC that I made for May's swap over on RWS forum - the theme was wording!

I coloured this cute little puppy that I got free with PaperCraft Essentials Magazine, he is just sooo cute! I used some of my NEW distress reinkers! Wild Honey and Barn Door, I used black soot to enhance his black nose and I put on some Anita's 3-D Clear Gloss, to give his nose a wet look!

Question for you - how do you store your re-inkers??? I am looking for a metal children's paint set, that I can pop out the paints and put a couple of drops of re-inkers in! I can't find one for love or money, all they seem to have are plastic ones!!!

The wording is from Dimensions craft, the swirls are cut from Cuttlebug folder Ornamental and red Bazzill cardstock.
I used a Prima flower with a Mark Richards crystal!
I then inked the edges with Vintage photo!
The paper I just don't know where that came from, have had it for ages, I am going to be a good girl and TRY to use up all my papers and stash before I buy new papers, IT'S SOOO HARD as so many new lines and pretty papers come out all the time!!!

All the above were bought at Running with Scissors with the exception of Anita's 3-D gloss which was bought in Boyes. The paper I haven't got a clue!

Thunder and lightening ....

Did anyone see the thunderstorm last night??? or was I the only idiot up at 1:00 am in the morning!!!!

I decided to take some shots of my garden flowers this morning as they had rain drops on them!

I know I have said it before, but I love this shrub, it was here when we bought the house, so I don't know the name, any suggestions??? I love how the flowers look like crumpled paper!

This is our Japanese Maple tree, lol TREE the thing has grown about an inch in the last 3 years, it's supposed to grow about 4 - 6 feet, and when the leaves fall off of it, it looks like we have just stuck a stick in the ground!!! So I have renamed it 'Japanese MINIATURE Maple tree'!!!

Just a quick post!!!

Fun Day out at Cleethorpes

We planned to have a day out at Cleethorpes as John and Mairead have never been, but we lucked out with the weather. But we decided to go anyway, so on with the raincoats and off we went.

What do you do when you get to a seafront and its windy and rainy you hit the arcade games ....

We spent about 2 hours in there, we had a laugh didn't waste too much money, we set our budgets and walked out when we spent it!!!

We took a walk around the shops and souvenir shops as Mairead wanted to get a fridge magnet (oops my fault as I asked them to collect magnets while they were in Australia, she got bitten by the bug) and some rocks!

We passed a body and tattoo parlour and Steve asked Aimee how brave she was!!! She said "you know I am very brave" he said "how about getting your ears pierced then?" Aimee of course said "Oh yes please" Aimee has been asking for her ears to be pierced for a long, long time! I had said to her she could get them done for her First Holy Communion which is 2 years away!!!

So in we went, the lovely lady (who had lots of pericing and tattoos) spoke to Aimee, told her how to take care of them, how much it hurts, and all that!

Then it was time

First ear .....

Aimee jumped, I jumped!! Aimee says ooooh that hurts, and very nearly started to cry! The lady went on to explain that it will hurt a little bit, but then it will go ... Steve jumped in and said lets get the other one done, before I could say it as we could see Aimee thinking it over and we were afraid she would back out of the second one!

Second ear ....

Aimee jumped, I jumped!!! Aimee was brilliant and said it still hurts but I have my ears pierced, so while she was admiring herself in the mirror, I stepped outside and took a few deep breathes! Oh how I hate seeing my girls get hurt (even if it is something like ear piercing)!!!

She kept saying I was very brave, wasn't I!!! Yes sweetheart you were incredibly brave!

So on we went to take a walk along the pier!

The flowers were very pretty!

The magnet Mairead bought had donkeys on it, so I made them go down on the sand and get their photos taken with the REAL donkeys, lol

After stuffing our faces with donuts and ice cream, we decided we would go bowling! Mairead, John and I have only ever been once! Steve has been lots of times and the girls have never been!!!

We had a laugh, we all done better than we thought we would, but just look at those scores : (

We finished off the day at the Indian and Chinese buffet all you can eat!!! We certainly did, I think we all had 3 helpings of their beautiful ice cream, mmmmhhh!!!!

All in all, even if the day was horrible weather wise, the company and activities sure made up for it!

Chloe's Confirmation

I took Chloe, Aimee and myself to the hairdressers on Thursday at 3:00 to get our hair done, I got my hair straightened see below, and Aimee got two French Plaits and looked beautiful! A couple of months ago Chloe decided to take a scissors to her hair and do it herself! At first her hair looked okay, but as it grew it got worse! The problem was she cut some parts very short especially the sides! The hairdressers had to cut lots of the lenght of her hair so it wasn't mullet looking! Chloe was NOT HAPPY! Got home and had floods of tears, I HATE my hair, unfortunately for me I said, Well you won't be cutting your hair yourself again, oops!!! As the saying goes, if looks could kill!!! Anyways, we attacked with some gel and hairspray, and I must say we got it looking good! But by the time for the photos to come her hair started to fall!!!

Parent (me obviously), Sponsor (Mairead) and Candidate (Chloe), had to stand up and go to the Pastoral candle. I had to light a smaller candle off of the Pastoral candle, it wouldn't light, I got it after 3 goes, ooh my nerves everyone watching me struggle, arggghhh!!! (Steve took the following photos)

The the sponsor and the candidate walked forwards to the Bishop,

Chloe gets to choose a Confirmation name. During the Catholic sacrament of Confirmation, God the Holy Spirit comes upon you to bestow numerous spiritual gifts and "confirm" the faith given you in Baptism when Original Sin was wiped away. You choose a Confirmation name before Confirmation. This new name, imposed by the bishop during Confirmation, becomes a part of your full name. It comes after your first and middle names and before the last name.

Chloe chose St Emalie, derived from St Emily, Born near Rodez, France, she became a nun at Maison St. Cyr when eighteen. In 1815 after much dissatisfaction, she decided that her vocation was in teaching poor children. With the approval of Abbe Marty, her spiritual adviser, and the aid of three young assistants, she began this work in her room at St. Cyr. This was the start of the Congregation of the Holy Family of Villefranche. It grew rapidly, establishing its own mother house and branches. I have to say a huge thanks to Steve's family who came from Hull and York, had to sit to 2 hours of a ceremony and then head back home! I felt so guilty about not been able not to have a little celebration/party for the event because of the time, the ceremony was from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, they had a long drive home, work and children to see to for the next day!

Chloe got lots of beautiful gifts from her family, thank you so much!!!! And Aimee wasn't forgotten, she got some very pretty gifts which I also have to say a HUGE thanks!!!

It was very hectic at the end, Chloe was been pulled in lots of different directions and had only a couple of minutes with her Aunts and Uncles, so I didn't get any photos of them with Chloe!

Also thanks to Ruth and Georgia who also came, but disappeared before I could get photos of them with Chloe!

And worse of all we got no photos of our own little family!!!! D'oh!!!!!!

So very bad night for photos for us!!!!

I made this for Steve's brother's birthday!

I used bazzill card, some cardboard swiped with Versa Magic tear drop cloud white, black ribbon, basic grey paper, eyelets and I typed the sentiment off the computer, and now I see it is not central, d'oh! All bought at RWS!

The rapeseed oil fields are blooming at the moment, and today was such a beautiful day! I decided to call on my model and go and get some photos!

I was meant to pop down to Tracey after this, but we were covered in pollen I went into the field wearing a blue top and jeans and came out totally covered in yellow!

Cherry blossom disaster ......

I usually take some photos of the girls under some cheery blossom trees look here, here and here to see past photos.

Anyway the Cherry blossoms that I go to take the photos at, were very late in blossoming, and they didn't look as beautiful as they usually do! The council have recently done some work in the area around the trees and I am wondering if that is what caused them not to blossom as good! On top of that, the morning was beautiful perfect for photo taking, we went to Church and in space of an hour the day had changed! We decided to go for it anyway but didn't turn out so good as the wind picked up and it started to rain, very disappointed. I have been watching the trees and they have now lost most of their flowers, don't think I will get any better this year :(

Anyways here are the photos that I did manage to get, even if there was no beautiful display of blossoms!

Spent a fantastic day at Tracey's.

I managed to get on her scrapbooking class and this was the following layout!!!

Remember the fab photos Steve took of Aimee from my last post, when I saw the papers we were going to be working with, I thought how freaky is that, those photos will go fantastic with these!!! Couldn't wait to get home and see if they did!!! I think they are perfect!

And I was lucky enough to stay on for the crop as well!!!

I picked the new Gorjuss stamps that I got for Mother's day and started to play with them! I finished one girl and placed it on top of the pages that I had just finished, and freaky episode number 2 the Gorguss Girl image that I just coloured went perfect with the papers!!!! I then had the hardest job of all to do, colour her in again exactly the same!!!! Very nearly, but after the 3rd attempt I wasn't going to try anymore!!!

The the task of finding a name for the pages, I think I spent about 2 hours trying different names, and for goodness sake the name was staring me in the face all along, d'oh!!!!!

Thanks Tracey and all you brilliant ladies, for the fantastic day, it is soo good to get together with other crafters and share stories and laughs!!!!

The original idea is in The Craft Stamper magazine August issue page 23, and its a fairy captured in a jar!!!

I used a Bisto gravy granules jar for this image! Even though in the magazine she used shrink plastic for the image, I just used watercolour paper! I also used a flower that I got in a charity shop!

I cut a piece of fabric and stamped friends onto it using Tim Holtz Vintage photo,

tied some rosebud ribbon (from RWS) around it and hung a butterfly charm that I got off of a pair of jeans that Chloe bought, I swear she didn't want the charm anymore!!!!

I made this captured fairy for Tracey, and I think she is keeping it in the shop if you want to take a look at it!!!

I am also hosting a challenge over on RWS site:-

The challenge is to create a captured image (in the magazine she said to use shrink plastic, I didn't)!You can put whatever image you want into the jar, eg Magnolia's, Whiff of Joys, Sugar Nellie's, etc
Include some sort of "scene" eg, I have included a rose, you could have a little garden, an image sitting on a swing, fence, etc Whatever you can think up, just as long as the image isn't on its own!
Deadline for completed jars is Saturday 29th May, so you have over a month to complete!!!!
Please don't post any photos of your jars until you are asked to!!!

An impromptu photo session

Steve got some new photo equiment and grabbed Aimee to try it out!

The photos he got are fantastic, love them!!! These are just a few!

I know this isn't the most flattering shot, but I love the squished eye!!!!

Wouldn't this photo break your heart, lol!!!

Aimee hasn't really ever shown an interest in cycling until this year! She really wanted to cycle without stabilizers and get a big girls bike! We were going to get her a 2nd hand bike to start her off with, as there were bound to be a lot of falls and bangs, but we saw this at Asda direct down from £50 to £25, which is what we were going to pay anyways!

So she started at home and she got her balance and cycled for a little bit, so we decided to take her to a park nearby which has lovely, flat, long footpaths! But after a little while she wasn't getting anywhere quick and she got angry with herself and us! The above photo was the result!

After much egging on from Steve and me, the following photos are the result ...

All worth while I say, she now cycles around our front all the time!

While at the park saw some pretty little flowers!

The Boating Lake

It was such a nice day today, it would of been a shame to waste it! So I took Mum, dad and the girls (Chloe actually wanted to be seen with us) to the Boating Lake in Cleethorpes.

We then walked along the pier, we ate some chips, ice cream and to finish it off some lovely hot, sugary donuts! The girls behaved mum and dad enjoyed it and it was a truly lovely day!!!!

Aimee seems to have the knack of getting birds to come and feed from her hand!
